The two loves in Sammi’s life, filmmaking and drumming, can be traced back to the same source: their unnatural childhood obsession with Tom Hanks’s directorial debut, That Thing You Do! Inspired, Sammi took custody of the family camcorder from the moment they could reach it off the shelf.
After dipping their toes into the worlds of acting and improv, Sammi started directing comedy music videos. These soon caught the eye of CollegeHumor which led them to directing some fifty CollegeHumor Originals and firmly established them as a comedy directing powerhouse. Fast forward a bit and Sammi’s gone on to direct commercials, TV shows and their debut feature film ‘Crush’, a queer high school coming-of-age comedy, out on Hulu now. Most recently, their second film, You Are SO Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, starring (the) Adam Sandler debuted on Netflix at no.1. They still like to use what little free time they have to drum, build furniture, walk their dog (Cooper, Coops, Coopsicle…), and cook. Their favourite food is avocado and French fries (we presume, and hope, separately.)
